Dedication of the Rotary International (Dist. 5000) Legacy Forest

Pili Valderrama of Eco Rotary of Kakaʻako, Naomi Masuno (District 5000 Governor), and community partners like the Rotarians, hotels, and other business organizations contribute to mitigating our climate situation by planting trees.  The pandemic changed their plans, but with determination and perserverence, they forged on to plant 5,000 trees in commemoration of Rotary Internationalʻs “Give Thanks Day” in November 2020.  Not only did they meet their goal, but Pili, along with volunteers from District 5000 Hawaii Rotarians have planted over 8,000 milo and kou trees to date!

On June 19, 2021, the Rotary held a dedication and blessing of the Rotary International Legacy Forest at the Gunstock Ranch on the North Shore of Oahu with horesback and ATV rides to kick the day off. With the already-planted 8,000 endemic trees, the Rotary International Legacy Forest will offer a platform for all Rotarians throughout Hawaii and the world to continue their goal of planting 100,000 native trees.
